Saudi Arabia is on a major spree as it remains committed to developing gigaprojects and realising Vision 2030. As part of this development, the kingdom is creating new ecosystems and unlocking new sectors that are heavily enabled by sustainability and smart construction.
Take, for example, the Qiddiya Investment Company, which contracted Abu Dhabi-based Group AMANA to build their offices in the “most sustainable way”. The contract was to deliver a 1,950 m2 office complex for the gigaproject on a leaner, more sustainable budget.
According to Group AMANA, this was only one of the marquee projects they have been involved in the kingdom, as it commits to expanding its presence in Saudi Arabia.
Construction Week Middle East sat down with Riad Bsaibes, president and CEO at AMANA Investments, who also has over 15 years of expertise as the COO of Amana Contracting Group, to learn more about its operations in the kingdom.
Bsaibes noted that DuBox worked with Qiddiya Investment Co. on an office complex for 150 employees – from concept to completion. He stated that they were able to deliver a productised solution ahead of schedule in just 25 weeks and with 30% less manpower compared to a traditional construction project of this size.
“This was achieved as a result of modular construction and superior technology being employed – DuBox was able to facilitate this.
“The Red Sea Project has also been another opportunity for Group AMANA to showcase its capabilities – DuBox delivered a sustainable construction model, reduced costs, provided better quality, and allowed for quicker completion o the award-winning Coastal Village Residential Buildings on the site,” Bsaibes added.
He pointed out that this project demanded an ecologically sensitive approach to construction: “Modularisation ensured much of the construction took place off-site, minimising ecological disturbances, and as building and site-work were completed simultaneously, time to market and costs were substantially reduced.”

Elaborating further on incorporating sustainability and smart construction, Bsaibes stated that with DuBox and DuPod, Group AMANA has been meeting an outpouring of demand for manufacturing technology, with factories and facilities providing seamless off-site construction that is more effective and sustainable to the kingdom.
“DuPod aims to deliver a productive factory environment that can meet market requirements for quick, sustainable, and smart construction, that can provide value,” he concluded.
