In a historic win against Argentina, Saudi Arabia scored 2 goals, winning the Group C opening match on 22 November 2022 at the Lusail Iconic Stadium, which is Qatar’s biggest stadium, seating approximately 80,000 attendees.
The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 began on 20 November and will last until 18 December 2022. The Lusail Stadium will also host the last FIFA 2022 game.

How many stadiums did Qatar build to host the FIFA World Cup?
Qatar newly constructed seven of the eight football stadiums that are being used for the FIFA games: Al Bayt Stadium; Lusail Stadium; Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium; Al Janoub Stadium; Al Thumama Stadium; Education City Stadium; Khalifa International Stadium; and Stadium 974.
