Saudi Arabia and Oman are studying the prospect of building a railway line between the two countries.
The line that is currently being considered will link Riyadh to the Omani city of Duqm through Ibri border crossing.
The plan currently under study entails the transport of goods and commercial movement, rather than the transport of passengers.
Part of the Oman-UAE Rail Network, the Sohar-Buraimi railway line was among the first to be announced in 2014, when Oman Railway Company launched a pre-qualification tender for implementation of the 207km Sohar-Buraimi line, which is the first segment of Oman’s national rail network.
