Real estate, construction, and infrastructure projects, as well as the development of multi-billion dollar gigaprojects, are helping Saudi Arabia achieve its goals in keeping with the national vision.
In October 2021, HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Council for Economic and Development Affairs announced that more than $7tn (SAR27tn) will be invested into the Saudi economy in the next decade, under the National Investment Strategy (NIS).
As per the ambitious Vision 2030 plan, tourism plays a key role in achieving this goal through the implementation of the gigaprojects such as The Red Sea Project, AMAALA, AlUla, Qiddiya, Diriyah Gate, ROSHN, and NEOM among others.
Smart city planning for gigaprojects
The key reasons for constructing smart cities through the gigaprojects in Saudi Arabia include the development of new economic sectors, rising demand for sustainable and eco-friendly cities supported by global green initiatives, and improving living circumstances for its citizens/residents.
With such large-scale movements taking place, Construction Week Middle East explores the kingdom’s vision in executing smart cities infrastructure at these gigaprojects through an expert panel discussion at our KSA Infrastructure Summit 2022, titled “Addressing the challenges facing smart cities infrastructure”.
The KSA Infrastructure Summit 2022 will highlight several aspects on the growth of infrastructure in the oil-rich nation and address the challenges and opportunities impacting the sector.
We have been closely following the growth of the construction and infrastructure sector in the kingdom and will continue to support its ambitious journey in the sector through our numerous events and conferences in the country.
