Construction Week Middle East is thrilled to announce that Tamer Shafik, the vice president for Business Development at Orascom Construction, will give a presentation at the Leaders in Construction KSA summit, which will be held on 28 September 2022 at the Sheraton Riyadh Hotel in Saudi Arabia.
Held in conjunction with Construction Week Saudi, the half-day event will deep dive into the kingdom’s rapidly growing construction industry, and shine a spotlight on conversations around the country’s growth trajectory, which is underpinned by multi-billion dollar gigaprojects.
Shafik’s presentation titled Sustainability as a key pillar for construction sector evolution will be the second session of the Leaders KSA event, which will also highlight discussions about how the number and value of projects will transform Saudi Arabia’s construction landscape, standard of living, and lifestyle.
Shafik graduated from Ain Shams University in Egypt with a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering. Also, he holds a Master of Science degree in Project Management from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in International Business from the University of South Carolina in USA. Shafik has previously worked in the United States and Kuwait. He has been employed by Orascom Construction Since 1998.
Since joining Orascom, Shafik has played a key role in developing Orascom business and witnessed the growth of the company to become one of the largest regional contractors operating across Africa and the Middle East.

The Leaders KSA event will have four panel discussions, two fireside chats, and a keynote speech in addition to the presentation by Shafik.

Panel 3: Embedding digital transformation into construction
The importance of adopting more rigorous, digital and data-backed approaches to construction has improved project delivery timelines and resulted in cost reduction. Experts on this panel will discuss how stakeholders can improve delivery of projects at the same time as developing skills, tools, and use of data to transform the construction process for the long-term.
Panel 4: The art of designing and building tourism and entertainment projects
Travel, Tourism, and Entertainment is a priority sector under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 economic diversification initiative. One of the key enablers of this sector is construction. Panellists will discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the design and development of these projects.
