HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia has announced that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will sponsor the restoration of the Jakarta Islamic Centre in Indonesia, following a fire last month.
The announcement was made by HRH Crown Price on the sidelines of the G20 summit.
Commenting on the announcement, the Muslim World League (MWL) lauded HRH the Crown Prince’s decision. On behalf of MWL and its international bodies and councils Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of MWL and Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars has extended thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to HRH the Crown Prince.
The Jakarta Islamic Center covers an area of 109,435 sqm. and consists of many facilities, including a mosque with an area of 2,200 sqm., which accommodates more than 20,000 worshippers, in addition to a research studies centre and a conference hall.
Commenting on the generosity of the Crown Prince, Sheikh Abdul Wahid Alawi, Vice-President of the Indonesian Supreme Council for Islamic Call, noted: “The tremendous efforts made by the kingdom and harnessing its great capabilities to serve mosques all over the world is a blessed effort.”
He stressed that the decision of HRH Crown Prince to restore the Islamic Centre in Jakarta reflects the kingdom’s humanity and goodness and is a reflection of the fraternal relations between the two countries and their leaders.
