Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, has announced the discovery of two new unconventional natural gas fields in the eastern region of the kingdom by Saudi Aramco.
Awtad was discovered southwest of the Ghawar field, 142km from the city of Hofuf, while AlDahna was found 230km southwest of Dhahran.
According to Prince Abdulaziz, the significance of these finds resides in the fact that they will help the Kingdom’s natural gas reserves grow, which will support its plans and and help realise the objectives of the Liquid Fuel Displacement Program.
The Saudi Energy Minister also added that the discoveries underline the wealth of natural resources the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has at its disposal.
