The Waterfront Project was launched at the Jeddah Historic district by the Ministry of Culture’s Jeddah Historical District Program (JHD).
Aimed at highlighting the Al Balad area as a tourist destination in line with Vision 2030, the project will entail carving out sections of the waterfront that had previously been filled to accommodate urban expansion as well as treating and purifying Lake Al Arbaeen.
The two-year project will reconnect the Red Sea with Al Balad in downtown Jeddah and will vitalise the historic Al Bunt Port, according to the Minister of Culture HH Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Farhan Al Saud.
This comes as a part of the larger Jeddah Historical Rejuvenation Project, which was launched in September 2021 by the Crown Prince and Prime Minister HRH Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
